BUSINESS AND LEISURE IN TRAVEL: AN EXPLORATION THROUGH BLEISURE TRAVELERS’ PERSPECTIVE
Business and leisure travelers have been considered two contradicting segments by many researchers due to their different requirements and motivations for their travel. However, there has been a shift in such perception, and it is becoming more common for people to combine business and leisure during their travel while blurring the boundary between the two. Such a type of traveler is recently called "bleisure traveler” as they inculcated diverse forms of leisure within their business travel. To better understand the current trend of bleisure, it is necessary to examine how leisure components can play an important role in one’s business travel. In addition, the combination of business and leisure in one trip can be debilitating when there is a conflict between one’s work and leisure domains despite its significant benefits such as promoting travelers’ health and wellbeing. In this regard, the major objective of the current research is to understand the reason why bleisure is important and how to magnify the benefits of it to obtain better travel experiences and wellbeing of travelers. Accordingly, this research consists of two associated studies under the theme of bleisure (1) to demonstrate the influence of different types of leisure in business travel and (2) to investigate which travel attributes influence travelers’ work-leisure conflicts and subsequently their subjective wellbeing.
