My doctoral research focuses on the development, application, and model-based interpretation of advanced spectroscopic techniques to characterize complex systems. More specifically, it aims to improve analytical methods for anisotropic materials and biological imaging and consists of two primary projects: (1) modifying commercial UV-VIS circular dichroism (CD) instrumentation to allow for selective detection of anisotropic contributions along with the establishment of a theoretical framework to interpret resulting spectra and (2) introducing novel sources to photothermal infrared spectroscopy to overcome the diffraction limit of infrared chemical imaging.
