Deoxynivalenol is a common food-borne mycotoxin contaminating commercial swine diets. Enterotoxigenic E. coli is a leading cause of post-weaning diarrhea. While the independent effects of these stressors are well-characterized, there is little research considering their combination. The objective of this thesis was to explore the effect of pre-exposure to deoxynivalenol on the response of IPEC-J2 cells and nursery pigs to E. coli and LPS, respectively.
